Surprise! Boy cries when he finds out he’s going to his first NFL game
A young Kansas City Chiefs fan is given tickets to his first NFL game by his parents as an early gift before his seventh birthday.
The Kansas City Chiefs won a second consecutive Super Bowl during the 2024 NFL playoffs despite having few top-end talents at the wide receiver position.
They changed that during the offseason when they selected Xavier Worthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Chiefs thought enough of Worthy that they traded up with the Buffalo Bills to draft the Texas product. They envisioned him adding some much-needed speed to their offense and becoming a long-term fit alongside Patrick Mahomes.
NFL DRAFT: Chiefs add explosive receiver by selecting Xavier Worthy
Indeed, Worthy’s speed was his biggest asset entering the NFL. He has the fastest straight-line speed ever timed at the NFL Combine and should be able to display it well during his first season with the Chiefs.
Worthy ran the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds at the 2024 NFL Combine. That set a new record for the fastest 40 time by 0.01 seconds.
John Ross held the previous 40-yard dash record, clocking a 4.22-second time at the 2017 NFL Combine. That led the Cincinnati Bengals to select him with the ninth overall pick in that year’s draft.
Worthy didn’t go quite as high as Ross, but he was still a first-round pick at No. 28 overall. He has already shown he can be a capable downfield threat with the Chiefs and should only continue to develop into a big-time playmaker as he continues to gel with Mahomes.

For those looking for another way to contextualize Worthy’s speed, NFL’s Next Gen Stats reports the Chiefs wide-out reached a top speed of 24.41 mph during his record-breaking 40-yard dash run.
Worthy hasn’t yet broken out that type of speed in an NFL game just yet, but one would expect he might be able to crack the NFL’s fastest players list by the end of the season.
Entering Week 3, the NFL’s 10 fastest plays have all had play log speeds of 20.9 mph or greater. Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins currently ranks as the fastest with a speed of 21.89 mph, while Indianapolis Colts receiver Alec Pierce holds two of the top-10 times.
