The crown jewel of the tennis calendar is here, and the very best in the world are competing for quite a prize.
On the men’s side, Novak Djokovic is looking for revenge in more ways the one. He fell to young Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final a year ago, losing a match that went the distance and, in the eyes of some, ceding the top spot in the sport to the Spanish phenom.
Djokovic is not only looking to avenge last year’s heartbreaker, but he’s looking to prove he has championship-level tennis left in the tank after unceremoniously exiting the French Open due to injury.
On the women’s side, Iga Swiatek is the slight favorite but has yet to prove she can get it done on grass with no trips to the semifinals or beyond at Wimbledon. After winning the French Open in June, Swiatek can move to the doorstep of the career grand slam with a win at Wimbledon.
Any Wimbledon winner will be walking away with an impressive cash prize as well. Here’s a look at the prize money breakdown for the grand slam tournament.

Wimbledon is dishing out £50,000,000 in prize money this year, the first time it’s ever reached 50 million pounds. That’s equivalent to $63.47 million, up by just under $7 million from last year’s tournament.
Most of the prize pool goes towards men’s and women’s singles and doubles, as well as mixed doubles, though Wimbledon sets a portion of money aside for wheelchair singles and doubles.
Singles winners on both the men’s and women’s side will receive $3.42 million, while runners-up are set to make $1.77 million. Watching a player lose a grueling final at Wimbledon can be tough, but that kind of consolation prize means everyone goes home with something on the final day of the tournament.
