Week 14 of the college football season delivered thrilling results, with each game setting the stage for a dramatic finish to the season’s final week. These results will have a profound impact on the College Football Playoff rankings, shaping the future of the season.
In the fourth of the six College Football Playoff rankings, it became clear that every game is crucial for teams’ chances of making the playoffs. After losing to unranked opponents, Alabama and Ole Miss fell out of the top 12 seeds for the first time. This situation creates opportunities for teams such as Arizona State, currently seeded at No. 12, and SMU, currently at the No. 10 seed, to advance in the rankings. Meanwhile, the top four teams – Oregon, Texas, Miami, and Boise State – retained solid positions. Though there is sure to be a shuffle with Miami’s loss to Syracuse.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the fifth rankings, which is just two days away. This ranking will give the final indication of team standings ahead of selection day, when the final College Football Playoff rankings are announced, determining which teams will compete in the playoffs.
The fifth of six College Football Playoff top 25 rankings will be released on Tuesday, Dec. 3, after Week 14 games.
