NFL Week 8 Overreactions
Mackenzie Salmon breaks down the wildest games from Week 8.
Sports Seriously
The Washington Commanders took down the Chicago Bears in miraculous fashion a week ago. They are riding a high that cannot be matched in the NFL, which offers the perfect opportunity for the New York Giants to swoop in and steal a win in Week 9.
Of course, that’s easier said than done. The Commanders have been one of the most pleasant surprises of the NFL season. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is a heavy frontrunner for Rookie of the Year, and the team’s offense as a whole has looked unstoppable at points. That said, the New York Giants have had some pretty strong offensive outbursts of their own. If they can get hot at the right time, they could walk away with a pivotal victory over their divisional foe.
Here are our experts’ predictions for this Week 9 showdown.

FEELING LUCKY? Here are the best parlay bets and odds for NFL games this week
Jets vs. Texans | Falcons vs. Cowboys | Ravens vs. Broncos | Bills vs. Dolphins | Panthers vs. Saints | Bengals vs. Raiders | Browns vs. Chargers | Giants vs. Commanders | Titans vs. Patriots | Cardinals vs. Bears | Eagles vs. Jaguars | Packers vs. Lions | Seahawks vs. Rams | Vikings vs. Colts | Chiefs vs. Buccaneers
Although Washington’s offense did face a tough test in the Bears off a bye week, and although the Commanders were bailed out on their game-winning Hail Mary, the Giants’ passing offense is simply a liability. The Commanders are tied for the fewest giveaways in the NFL, and I think Jayden Daniels and co. roll up to an easy victory here.
The Commanders’ Hail Mary is the prohibitive favorite for play of the year. Jayden Daniels’ improbable game-winning touchdown pass will likely motivate the team going forward. The Giants are the worst team in the NFL East.
Washington is riding high after a massive win against the Bears. Its positive stretch continues against the lowly Giants.
The last time these teams played, Washington won with just seven field goals. Expect Jayden Daniels to find the end zone this time in another win for the rookie.
