A new top 10 headlines the latest USA TODAY Sports Super 25 football rankings, with four new teams appearing in the bottom half as the season moves ahead to Week 2 action.

The USA TODAY High School Sports staff unveils the Stars of Week for August 26, 2024
Eight USA TODAY Sports Super 25 teams lost during the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday action in Week 1, headlining a wild opening to the high school football season.
When the final scoreboard ticked to zero, upsets in the Sunshine State and Utah, plus statement wins by SoCal, Las Vegas, Ohio, and Georgia contenders, created a massive shift in the latest national football rankings.
Only Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) and idle DeSoto (Texas) held ground in the top 10, with the shakeup around those two powers including big jumps from No. 5 Milton (Ga.) and No. 7 Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah), which pulled off a shocker over then-No. 2 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) last week.
Outside looking in, Carrollton (Ga.) continued its strong 2024 campaign, while St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, Md.) kicked off the season with a defiant win on the road. Cocoa (Fla.) and Central (Phenix City, Ala.) started off the year in the win column, too, and Washington (Massillon, Ohio) made it 17 straight victories.
The massive movement also opened the door for four new teams in the bottom half.
