Escalated drama in the final act is always exciting.
That scenario created a headline-grabbing shift in the latest USA TODAY Sports Super 25 girls flag football rankings, which welcomed four new teams in Week 10.
At the forefront of the shuffle, a 77-game winning streak ended in Georgia, with Southeast Bulloch (Ga.) falling to Calvary Day (Savannah, Ga.). That outcome and several big-time wins in Alabama and Arizona reshaped the top and bottom half of the Super 25.
While one incredible run ends, though, another continues to steamroll, as top-ranked Central (Phenix-City, Ala.) made it 34 in a row after a dominant win over a tough Alma Bryant (Ala.) squad.
Super 25 flag football selection process
In partnership with the NFL, the teams are determined by a USA TODAY Network selection committee of editors and writers in the participating states and the USA TODAY High School Sports staff.
The process considers factors ranging from last year’s results based on NFHS Network data, carryover into this season, and a primary focus on 2024 records and overall performance.

Growing the game of flag football
Flag football continues to flourish at the college level, with 20 NCAA programs expected to compete at the varsity in all three divisions as the 2025 calendar year kicks off.
Erskine College (S.C.) is the latest to join that growth, announcing the addition of women’s flag football and becoming the eighth Conference Carolinas school to sponsor the sport.
“Conference Carolinas is thrilled that Erskine is adding women’s flag football bringing our sponsorship to eight schools,” Commissioner Chris Colvin said in a statement. “Flag football is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and the southeast region and we are excited to lead the way in the NCAA.”
