USA Gymnastics on Saturday afternoon named the 2024 U.S. Men’s Olympic Team Presented by Xfinity, introducing five gymnasts and two traveling replacement athletes who will represent the United States at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (June 29, 2024) – USA Gymnastics on Saturday afternoon named the 2024 U.S. Men’s Olympic Team Presented by Xfinity, introducing five gymnasts and two traveling replacement athletes who will represent the United States at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Selected to the team at the conclusion of the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials at Target Center were 2023 World team bronze medalists Asher Hong and Paul Juda, 2024 U.S. all-around champion and 2022 World horizontal bar gold medalist Brody Malone, 2021 pommel horse world champion Stephen Nedoroscik and 2023 World all-around and team bronze medalist Frederick Richard. It will be Malone’s second Olympic Games, while Hong, Juda, Nedoroscik and Richard are first-time Olympians. 2023 World team bronze medalist and two-time silver medalist Khoi Young and Tokyo Olympian Shane Wiskus were named traveling replacement athletes.
At the Olympic Trials in Minneapolis, Richard led the all-around (170.500) on both days of competition, also claiming the top spot on high bar (29.850), second on parallel bars (29.850) and third on floor exercise (28.700) to lock his spot on the team. Malone claimed the second all-around spot across both days with a two-day total of 170.300, followed by Wiskus in third with a 169.650. The Minnesota native and crowd favorite Wiskus also led on floor with a 28.950.
Juda and Hong landed fourth (168.850) and fifth (167.650) in all-around competition, respectively, with Hong posting the highest total on still rings with an overall 29.150. Young had the top combined single-vault score with a 30.050, while Donnell Whittenburg (Baltimore, Md./Salto Gymnastics) led the vault standings with a 28.850 (14.750, 14.100). Nedoroscik was No. 2 on pommel horse with a 29.300.
Artistic gymnastics competition at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will run from July 27-August 5 at Bercy Arena. The 2024 Women’s Olympic Team Presented by Xfinity will be named Sunday, June 30, following Day 2 of women’s competition at Target Center.
