Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce step into 2025 in style: A look back at relationship timeline

At this time last year, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s budding relationship was going viral with every Kansas City Chiefs game, custom jacket worn and date night in New York City. One of USA TODAY’s most-read stories on New Year’s Eve 2024 was about Swift wearing a replica of Kelce’s jacket to a Chiefs game.

So where are they now?

Well, they’re still a couple. They’re still making headlines for matching outfits and outings in the City. Their NYE plans have not yet been revealed, but maybe Kelce will talk about it on his New Heights podcast released Thursday, Jan. 2. Or he could be asked after the Chiefs play the Broncos Sunday in Denver. The Chiefs (15-1) have secured home-field advantage for the playoffs and a first-round bye.

In the meantime, here’s a look back at their relationship timeline, and a look ahead at what fans are predicting for Tayvis, er, Swelce in 2025.

Dec. 27-28: Swift, Kelce step out in NYC

The couple made headlines after multiple outings in New York City, including a double date Friday with actor Margaret Qualley and musician-producer Jack Antonoff. They turned heads on this particular outing for wearing similar black-and-beige outfits to BondST Restaurant.

According to People, Swift wore a hand-embroidered Crystal Cage Oversized Blazer from Stella McCartney that retails for $5,500. Kelce’s cardigan was a similar shade to the blazer and they both wore black underneath.

The following night, Kelce wore a bright red fit that matched Swift’s signature lip color.

Dec. 18: Kelce throws Swift an Eras-themed party

To celebrate the end of Swift’s massive Eras Tour, Kelce hosted a monster bash for his girlfriend.

“Epic night for an Epic run!” Kelce’s best friend and ex-NFL tight end Ross Travis captioned an Instagram post showing photos from the event.

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes also were in attendance with other close friends and family members. The pair dressed up like Kelce and Swift, respectively.

Dec. 8: Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour finally ends

This year marked the end of an era for Taylor Swift and for pop music. The singer’s hugely popular Eras Tour kicked off in early 2023 but made headlines throughout 2024 before finally wrapping up Dec. 8.

Just when fans thought they knew the show like the back of their hands, Swift switched up the set list in May by adding songs from “The Tortured Poets Department” − and in June, her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, made fans swoon by joining her on stage.

When all was said and done, the Eras Tour was reported to have grossed more than $2 billion, making it by far the biggest tour ever.

Sept. 11: Swift gives Kelce a shoutout at MTV VMAs

While accepting her award for Video of the Year, Swift said: “This video seems very sad when you watch it, but actually it was the most fun video to make. Something that I’ll always remember is that when I would finish a take and I’d say, ‘Cut,’ and we’d be done with that take, I would always just hear someone cheering and like, ‘Woo!’ from across the studio where we were shooting it. And that one person was my boyfriend Travis. … Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic, so I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot, because I’ll always remember that.”

Dec. 31, 2023: Swift attended the Chiefs’ 25-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals before spending New Year’s Eve in Kansas City with Kelce.
Jan. 13, 2024: Swift attended the Chiefs’ AFC Wild Card round playoff win over the Miami Dolphins wearing a jacket emblazoned with Kelce’s No. 87 to combat temperatures that dipped below 0 degrees at kickoff.
Jan. 21, 2024: Swift attended the Chiefs’ AFC Divisional round win on the road against the Buffalo Bills along with Jason and Kylie Kelce. Jason Kelce was shown shirtless chugging a beer in their suite at Highmark Stadium. Travis Kelce, meanwhile, made a heart gesture with his hands towards Swift’s suite when he caught a touchdown pass.
Jan. 28, 2024: Swift attended the Chiefs’ AFC Championship win on the road against the Baltimore Ravens and appeared on field with Kelce for the first time. Swift came down from her suite for the on-field celebration after the Chiefs secured a spot in the Super Bowl, along with Kelce’s parents. She even had a moment with Chiefs coach Andy Reid.
Feb. 11, 2024: Swift attended the Chiefs’ win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas one day after performing in Tokyo. During the game, Swift was shown on the Allegiant Stadium videoboard with Blake Lively and chugged her drink. After the game, she and Kelce embraced on the field in a moment caught by NFL cameras. “Thank you for coming, baby,” Kelce said, as Swift said, “Oh, I cannot believe that.” Kelce and Swift later celebrated together by singing and dancing to Swift’s music at a Vegas nightclub.
June 13, 2024: Swift was spotted watching Chariah Gordon’s Instagram Live of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl ring ceremony while on her Eras Tour stop in Liverpool, England. Gordon is the fiancée of Kansas City wide receiver Mecole Hardman.
June 22, 2024: Kelce appeared in an Instagram post by Swift featuring a selfie with Prince William and his children after an Eras Tour show at Wembley Stadium in London.
June 23, 2024: Kelce joins Swift on stage at Wembley Stadium for a cameo in her show.
Aug. 24, 2024: Swift and Kelce were spotted together at her Rhode Island mansion for a weekend getaway during a break after the final Chiefs preseason game that also included Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, Jason and Kylie Kelce, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid and Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz.
Sept. 4, 2024: Kelce, during an appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” confirmed a rumor sparked by Patrick Mahomes that Swift has started drawing up plays. “She is a little biased and just creates plays for me,” Kelce said.
