A Russell Wilson “revenge game” won’t be among the Week 2 clashes in the NFL.
Justin Fields, not the more veteran Wilson, will lead his new team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, into their second game of the season against Wilson’s previous team, the Denver Broncos, on Sunday afternoon. It would have been Wilson’s first time playing the Broncos since 2018, when he was still with the Seattle Seahawks. His career record against the Broncos is 1-1 in the regular season.
The Steelers are coming off of an 18-10 win in Week 1 over the Atlanta Falcons. Fields started under center in the game while Wilson was sidelined with a calf injury, and kicker Chris Boswell nailed all six field goal attempts for all of Pittsburgh’s points.
Meanwhile, Denver began the season 0-1 with a loss in Seattle. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix made his regular season pro debut in the game, finishing 26-of-42 on pass attempts for 138 yards and two interceptions.
