Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season is here with a full schedule of divisional games and intra-conference matchups. One of those games sees the Seattle Seahawks heading out to Foxborough, Mass. to take on the New England Patriots.

Seattle had a second-half comeback in Week 1 to earn a 26-20 win at home over the Denver Broncos. Running back Kenneth Walker III had 20 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown and quarterback Geno Smith went 18 for 25 passing for 171 yards, two touchdowns (one passing and one rushing), and one interception. The Seattle defense held Denver to just 231 total yards in the win.

New England was one of the bigger surprises in Week 1 with a 16-10 win on the road over the Cincinnati Bengals. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson had 120 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. The Patriots defense stepped up in a big way in Week 1 with three sacks – 2.5 by defensive lineman Keion White – and two turnovers, including a forced fumble in the red zone.

Seattle hasn’t lost to New England since Super Bowl XLIX and this is the first time the two teams have played since Week 2 of the 2020 season. Here’s what experts are expecting on Sunday.

USA TODAY: Seahawks 21, Patriots 17

Tyler Dragon says: “Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo deserves a lot of credit for how New England performed in the biggest upset of Week 1. The Patriots are going to try to play physically and run downhill with RB Rhamondre Stevenson. But Seattle has the personnel to limit Stevenson’s production, and enough firepower on offense.”

The Arizona Republic: Seahawks 21, Patriots 17

Jeremy Cluff writes: “Geno Smith is the forgotten QB in the NFC West. He shouldn’t be. If he’s on, Seattle can cause problems.”

Patriots Wire: Patriots 20, Seahawks 13

Staff write “New England’s defense will make this a competitive game, but the offense could be a concern every week. They can’t expect the defense to hold every opponent to 10 points. The unit must figure out a way to move the ball more consistently and score touchdowns.

Sporting News: Seahawks 23, Patriots 20

Vinnie Iyer says: The Seahawks are 1-0 with defensive-minded rookie coach Mike Macdonald. The Patriots are 1-0 with defensive-minded rookie coach Jerod Mayo. One team also exploded offensively in Week 1. Seattle looked better with Geno Smith at QB and had a big-time running game again with Kenneth Walker III. The Patriots have too many limitations around Jacoby Brissett to keep up on the scoreboard.”

FanSided: Seahawks 20, Patriots 17

Ryan Bunton writes: “In the end, there is just too much that has to go right for New England. Based on how they attacked the first game, it feels like this team has to play from ahead, has to dominate the running game, and has to force key turnovers. It could prove too difficult to replicate that recipe for success week in and week out.”
