NFL Week 12 Overreactions
Mackenzie Salmon breaks down NFL week 12 wildest games.
Sports Seriously
After a slow start to the season, the Cincinnati Bengals haven’t exactly stormed back, going 4-4 since their 0-3 start, but they’ve put up tremendous fights against some of the best teams in the AFC. Close losses to the Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers, and Ravens again have likely sealed this team’s fate, leaving them out of the playoffs.
However, just because their season is probably over doesn’t mean they can’t also bring some of their rivals down with them. The Bengals will have exactly that opportunity this week with an AFC North matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh currently sits in first in the AFC North, but one tough loss could send them spiraling during the final stretch of the season.
Here are our experts’ predictions for this AFC North matchup.
The Bengals are favorites to defeat the Steelers, according to the BetMGM NFL odds. Not interested in this game? Check out expert picks and best bets for every NFL game this week.

The Bengals are coming off their bye and really cannot afford to drop any games, especially against division opponents. Pittsburgh’s offense, meanwhile, has been inefficient and the team’s reliance on defense and special teams is unsustainable. This one should be close, however, so I do think there are better plays out there.
The Bengals’ 4-7 record isn’t a good reflection of how good they’ve been offensively. Joe Burrow ranks third in the league in passing yards and Ja’Marr Chase is the receiving yards leader. The Bengals are finally going to outscore a good opponent.
It just hasn’t been the Bengals’ season. They have to know by this point the playoffs are not in the cards. How will an unenthused group play against perhaps the most engaged team in the NFL this season? It’ll be close, as most late-season divisional games are, but the Steelers are on a mission this year and the Bengals can’t stop them.
Has time officially run out for Joe Burrow and Cincinnati? Not yet. They take advantage of a susceptible Steelers team and get a game the Bengals desperately need.
