Aaron Rodgers got his first (full-game) win in a Week 2 Jets 24-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans, and he’s looking to lead Gang Green into a second-straight victory at the Meadowlands Thursday against the division-rival Patriots. The Jets got that first win of the season after a Week 1 loss at the 49ers. The Patriots have gotten to 1-1 in the opposite way, winning a Week 1 tilt with the Bengals before losing in overtime to the Seahawks in Week 2.
Rodgers and the Jets’ passing attack might have to do the heavy lifting against the Patriots. New England ranks second in the league through two weeks in run defense, allowing under 60 yards per game, while the Jets enter Week 3 26th in the league in rushing, despite having a backfield led by Breece Hall and Braelon Allen. The Patriots will look to keep the ball on the ground on offense — they’re fifth in the NFL at 177.5 rushing yards per game, let by Rhamondre Stevenson, who’s averaging just over 100 yards per game.

And the Jets get stopped on 3rd-and-33.
Morgan Moses is hurt and in a lot of pain on the field. That did not look good. #Jets.

And it all ends with another sack, which pushes them back to the 45-yard line on fourth down. Now they’re punting. Brutal.
Out of nowhere, the Patriots ripped off plays of 22 and 19 yards on their first two plays of the drive to reach well into Jets territory.
That’s Aaron Rodgers’ first TD pass to Wilson, a year later than everyone was hoping.
He’s 40 years old but he moves like he’s only 33.
If this is a reasonable version of what we can expect out of the Jets going forward, those Bills-Jets games are going to be insanely good.

Jacoby Brissett has been hit seven times in 15 dropbacks
— Mark Daniels (@ByMarkDaniels) September 20, 2024
Per @NextGenStats, the Jets have blitzed on 33.3 percent of Brissett’s dropbacks today.
Under Saleh, they haven’t topped 25 percent in a game since 2021. And that’s when this was a VERY different defense in year 1 of this regime.

Patriots open the second half with more of the same. The gain six yards total on a quick three-and-out and the Jets will take over on their own 33 after a nice punt return.
Christian Gonzalez has been on Garrett Wilson for 17 of his 19 routes (89.5%) so far tonight, via @NextGenStats. Has followed him to both sides of the formation and the slot.
4 targets, 2 catches, 15 yards.

Aaron Rodgers is 15-of-20 for 170 yards and a TD. Jacoby Brissett is 7-of-9 for 36 yards. The Jets are outgaining the Patriots 252-40. It’s honestly a wonder the margin isn’t bigger right now.
Rodgers misfires on a pass to Garrett Wilson on 3rd-and-10 with 14 seconds left, leaving Greg Zuerlein to attempt a 45-yard field goal. The Patriots catch a break when he hooks it wide left.
Basically, the Patriots look like they are playing on Thursday Night Football and the Jets look like they are playing on Sunday afternoon.

The Jets have once again driven into Patriots territory, this time right after the two-minute warning. Rodgers has three timeouts to work with before halftime.
It took 49 yards in pass interference yardage, but the Patriots will take it after how this game began.
