Patriots vs. Jets live updates: How to watch, predictions for ‘Thursday Night Football’

The New England Patriots and New York Jets renew their rivalry on “Thursday Night Football,” but with a different look.

When the two AFC East rivals meet in MetLife Stadium on Thursday night, Bill Belichick won’t be on the New England sideline for the matchup for the first time since 1999.

During Belichick’s tenure, the Patriots owned the Jets: Belichick’s teams went 37-11 in the regular season vs. the Jets and their lineup of seven head coaches since 2000.

The Jets, though, have an opportunity to pen a new chapter against a Patriots team that will have to find its way under the guidance of new head coach Jerod Mayo. Both teams still have a bit to prove.

After a Week 1 stunner against the Bengals, the Patriots crashed back to Earth, losing a competitive game to the Seahawks in overtime. Now, Pats fans are anxiously (and maybe impatiently) awaiting the nod to No. 3 overall pick Drake Maye, who has been on the bench behind Jacoby Brissett this season.

The Jets are also finding their footing after a wishy-washy first two weeks of the season: New York was handed a brutal loss by the 49ers in Week 1, and struggled to get going against the Titans in Week 2. They came away with a win, though it wasn’t aesthetically pleasing football.
