Gauff, at just 20 years old, is coming off of a remarkable year, including a recent ascent to the world No. 2 ranking, a Grand Slam doubles title at the 2024 French Open, and a US Open singles title in 2023.
On the men’s side, Fritz has developed a strong affinity for clay, referring to himself as ‘Claylor’. The American claimed a prestigious Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells in 2022 and consistently excelled on both hard and clay courts. He has had two quarterfinal runs so far this year and a strong showing at the French Open.
With powerful serves and baseline play, the U.S. pair is ready to take on the rest of the world, side by side. Fritz and Gauff will compete in all categories: singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.
It was a big morning for Gauff, who was not only confirmed for the mixed draw but also as her nation’s youngest Olympic opening ceremony flagbearer ever, joining basketball icon Lebron James on 26 July.
