NFL Week 17 picks: Why you should consider Lions, Panthers and Colts
Lorenzo Reyes is back with his three best bets ahead of Week 17 games. Find out why he likes the Lions, Panthers and Colts to cover the spread.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-7) no longer control their destiny, and it’s possible their season could come to a sudden end when the sneaky Carolina Panthers (4-11) visit the Sunshine State.
There will be no playoff for the Arizona Cardinals thanks to Carolina ending their chances in a thrilling overtime game in Charlotte last week. The record doesn’t show it, but the Panthers have made tremendous strides in the second half of the season, which didn’t seem possible at the start. Now Carolina has a chance to end another team’s season in a divisional foe.
Just when Tampa Bay seems to be cruising toward a playoff spot, it hits choppy waters. The Buccaneers offense struggled to get going and lost to the Dallas Cowboys and saw the lead in the NFC South slip away. There remains a chance to clinch, but now the Buccaneers will need to win and hope for some luck. Can they take the lead back, or will Week 18 be a stressful one in Tampa Bay?
The Buccaneers are favorites to defeat the Panthers, according to the BetMGM NFL odds. Not interested in this game? Check out expert picks and best bets for every NFL game this week.
Steelers vs. Chiefs | Texans vs. Ravens | Bears vs. Seahawks | Patriots vs. Chargers | Bengals vs. Broncos | Rams vs. Cardinals | Bills vs. Jets | Jaguars vs. Titans | Saints vs. Raiders | Buccaneers vs. Panthers | Eagles vs. Cowboys | Giants vs. Colts | Browns vs. Dolphins | Vikings vs. Packers | Commanders vs. Falcons | 49ers vs. Lions
The Bucs really need to win this game, but the Panthers have been playing great lately. I think the revamped Carolina pass rush, which has generated 17 sacks over the last five games, should keep this closer than what is a very generous line.
The Bucs had a disappointing loss to Dallas last week. Now the Bucs don’t control their own destiny. Tampa Bay has won four straight games against its NFC South rival.
You can’t help but be impressed by Bryce Young and the Panthers these last few weeks, but the Buccaneers need to have their eye on the prize in a standings battle with the Falcons for the NFC South crown.
The first matchup came down to overtime and this one should be close as well. The Panthers are playing solid football and should give Tampa Bay fits before the Buccaneers pull away. The spread seems large here.
