Could the Houston Texans have a quiet NFL trade deadline? Perhaps, but that doesn’t mean the rest of the market will back in silence.
As the 3 p.m. deadline approaches, teams are fielding calls for talent. Yes, you will hear about names like teams Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby potentially being discussed in deals.
No, the Browns and Raiders won’t be shipping off the star defensive talent and faces of the franchise for little to value.
The deadline could see ample players on the move, but the NFL differs from the MLB and NBA. You won’t see a high-profile bonafide star be shipped for multiple first-round picks. The Los Angeles Rams from 2019-21 were the exception to the rule, not the standard. And fans would have ridiculed Les Snead and the front office if they didn’t walk away with a Lombardi Trophy following the trade of Von Miller.
Picks matter, so unless a player says they’re willing to sign a lucrative five-year, team-friendly deal, don’t expect to see a Jalen Ramsey 2.0 happen before Tuesday’s deadline. A handful of lower-tier starters on underwhelming teams, however, could be shipped out for the right price.
Take for instance Minnesota’s trade for Jaguars starter Cam Robinson or Baltimore’s deal for Carolina’s No. 2 receiver Dionate Johnson.
Here are 20 players that could swap jerseys for the rest of the season heading into the deadline and one place they could land.
