The start of this 2024 NFL season must seem like a long time ago for the Baltimore Ravens. They had an 0-2 record, quarterback Lamar Jackson was ranked 15th in the league in QBR as the reigning MVP and a lot of folks were wondering if it was time to panic. Heading into Week 8, the story sounds a whole lot different.

The Ravens have reeled off five wins in a row since then, and Jackson’s performance in their 41-31 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday night featured him passing for 281 yards and five touchdowns, while running for another 52 yards. It led to the second-best QBR of Week 7, behind only Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and pushed Jackson into second place for the season in QBR behind Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was the other big riser this week, finishing with his best QBR of the season in the Chiefs’ win over the San Francisco 49ers to move into the top 10 for the season in QBR for the first time.

Here’s how the rest of the NFL’s quarterbacks rank based on ESPN’s QBR for the season, and how they did in terms of QBR during Week 7:

ESPN’s QBR, explained

Every week, ESPN gives each quarterback a QBR for their latest performance. According to ESPN, the rating is intended to “incorporate all of a quarterback’s contributions to winning, including how he impacts the game on passes, rushes, turnovers and penalties.”

QBR measures each play’s degree of success and how much credit the quarterback deserves for the play. The statistic also takes into account the strength of opposing defenses faced. The final result is an efficiency rating as a number on a 0-to-100-point scale. The cumulative rating is averaged out on a per-play basis across the course of the season.
