For the 19th year in a row, Thanksgiving in 2024 will feature a triple-header of NFL action. As is tradition, the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys will host the earlier games on the national holiday, with one other matchup in the prime-time slot.

This year, the Lions’ and Cowboys’ games are divisional matchups for the second straight season. Detroit will host the Chicago Bears for the two teams’ first face-off of the year. Later in the day, Dallas will host the New York Giants for a second and final divisional battle between the two. The Cowboys won the first matchup, which was also on a Thursday, 20-15.

Rounding out the action is an interconference clash between the Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins. It will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2022 and the second straight on a national holiday – that 2022 matchup was on Christmas Day.

Here’s what to know about the three Thanksgiving games this year:

NFL Thanksgiving games today

Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears

  • Location: Detroit, Michigan
  • Venue: Ford Field
  • Time: 12:30 p.m. ET
  • Channel: CBS

The Lions are headed home after taking care of business in a 24-6 road win over the Colts. Running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery combined for 127 yards and three touchdowns, while quarterback Jared Goff was 26-of-36 for 269 yards.

Chicago suffered another devastating loss against the Vikings in Week 12. After sending the game to overtime with a touchdown, an onside kick recovery, and a last-second field goal, Minnesota’s defense shut down the Bears. Kicker John Parker Romo iced the win with a 29-yard field goal.

The Thanksgiving matchup between these two NFC North teams will be the first of two this season. The Bears won their last Thanksgiving Day meeting with the Lions in 2021, 16-14, thanks to Andy Dalton’s 317-yard day.

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants

  • Location: Arlington, Texas
  • Venue: AT&T Stadium
  • Time: 4:30 p.m. ET
  • Channel: Fox

After upsetting the Commanders in a wild game on the road, the Cowboys return home to face a team they’ve dominated in recent years. Dallas won their Week 12 game, 34-26, in a back-and-forth affair that featured 41 fourth-quarter points. It was the team’s first win since October 6 and moved the Cowboys’ record to 4-2 in away games this year.

In their first game of the post-Daniel Jones era, the Giants were blown out by the Buccaneers at home. Baker Mayfield went 24-of-30 for 294 yards in the 30-7 rout, with 11 different players catching a pass. Now, Big Blue heads to Arlington, Texas, hoping to snap the Cowboys’ seven-game win streak against them.

The last time these two teams played on Thanksgiving was two years ago. The Cowboys won 28-20.

Green Bay Packers vs. Miami Dolphins

  • Location: Green Bay, Wisconsin
  • Venue: Lambeau Field
  • Time: 8:20 p.m. ET
  • Channel: NBC

Unlike the first two matchups of the day, the Thanksgiving prime-time finale features two teams coming off of wins in Week 12.

The Packers took down the 49ers on Sunday in a 38-10 beatdown that included a 106-yard, three-touchdown day from running back Josh Jacobs. Green Bay’s playing on Thanksgiving for a second straight year. The team beat the Lions on the road, 29-22, in 2023.

Miami is riding a three-game win streak with a chance to return to .500 on Thursday. The Dolphins most recently took down the Patriots, 34-15, to keep quarterback Tua Tagovailoa undefeated against the divisional rival. He finished the day 29-of-40 for 317 yards and four passing touchdowns. This game will be the Dolphins’ first on Thanksgiving since their 20-19 loss to Tony Romo and the Cowboys in 2011.
