Joe Burrow and Caleb Williams struggle, Lions take down Rams in OT
Sports Seriously’s Mackenzie Salmon ‘overreacts’ to the biggest storylines from Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season.
Sports Seriously
The Dallas Cowboys (1-0) and New Orleans Saints (1-0) dominated their way to victory in Week 1 and they’ll try to do the same in their Week 2 contest.
New Orleans didn’t give the Carolina Panthers a chance to breathe, breaking away for a 30-0 lead in the first half en route to a 37-point win, the largest differential of the first week. The offense has been a concern in New Orleans for quite some time, but if it plays like it did in the opener, the Saints could be a legit contender in the NFC South.
Fresh off giving its quarterback a record-breaking contract, Dallas flexed its muscle by going on the road and making an emphatic statement against the Cleveland Browns. The expectations are always high for “America’s Team,” but the Cowboys have quieted the haters for now, and they can do it again for a second straight week.

Dallas in a home opener, with Mike Zimmer’s defense — this will be a far different task facing New Orleans when compared to its Week 1 assignment. I have a tough time seeing the Saints putting up enough points to match the Cowboys, and I expected Dallas’ offense to be much better in Week 2.
The Saints and Cowboys both routed their Week 1 opponents. These two teams have good defenses, but can the Saints score enough points to keep up with Dak Prescott and the Cowboys? The Cowboys win in their home opener.
I think this one will be closer than some might think, so taking the Saints with a spread approaching a touchdown might not be a bad play. The Cowboys, though, will find a way to secure the win at home.
As good as New Orleans good in Week 1, Dallas was arguably the most impressive team. It completely exposed one of the best defensive units in the league while shutting down the Browns offense. In front of the home crowd for the first time this season, the Cowboys offense picks up right where it left off, being too much for a Saints defense that’ll have its hands full.
