NFL Week 8 Overreactions
Mackenzie Salmon breaks down the wildest games from Week 8.
Sports Seriously
NFL fans will be treated to an NFC South matchup this weekend as two teams desperate for a win – the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers square off Bank of America Stadium this Sunday.
The New Orleans Saints started the season off scorching hot. They appeared to be one of the greatest teams in the league after the first two weeks. Then reality came crashing down. Derek Carr got hurt, and the team has not won a single game since, sitting at 2-6 heading into Week 9. They’ll get an opportunity to add another tally to their win column though as they face the same Panthers‘ team they beat in Week 1.
The Panthers haven’t changed much since. While there is the possibility that Andy Dalton will return as the team’s starter this week, the Panthers have not confirmed whether or not that will be the case. Furthermore, the team just traded away their best receiver, Diontae Johnson, to the Baltimore Ravens.
Here are our experts’ predictions for this NFC South matchup.

FEELING LUCKY? Here are the best parlay bets and odds for NFL games this week
Jets vs. Texans | Falcons vs. Cowboys | Ravens vs. Broncos | Bills vs. Dolphins | Panthers vs. Saints | Bengals vs. Raiders | Browns vs. Chargers | Giants vs. Commanders | Titans vs. Patriots | Cardinals vs. Bears | Eagles vs. Jaguars | Packers vs. Lions | Seahawks vs. Rams | Vikings vs. Colts | Chiefs vs. Buccaneers
This score is contingent on Derek Carr playing. I would absolutely wait until his status becomes more certain, but if he can’t go, I might have the Panthers as a possible upset on the moneyline. Otherwise, hammer New Orleans.
The Saints are optimistic about Derek Carr’s availability this week. New Orleans desperately needs Carr to return having lost six in a row. The Panthers, who are on a five-game losing streak, are the perfect team to play to get back in the winners column.
This could be an ugly one to watch. The Saints still have the better team, so I’ll side with New Orleans if I have to.
With Derek Carr returning, New Orleans gets exactly what it needs to break its losing skid in the Panthers. Carolina has lost by at least 10 points in five straight.
