Our Major League Baseball All-Star Game Picks

This week, Major League Baseball takes center stage as the 94th All-Star Game airs on FOX this Tuesday night at 8pm ET.

It comes to you from Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The American League and National League battle for bragging rights, but home-field advantage for the World Series is not at stake and has not been since 2016.

Today, we dive into the midsummer classic, with sports betting sites delivering some quality numbers. Shop around a little if exploring for props. We also have a tip for the Home Run Derby.

Please be aware of the heat. The roof may or may not be closed, which could make a difference on Tuesday night, especially with a south wind expected. It just means the breeze may be blowing out.

Our Team at The Panel has checked out the guides, stats, and key players ahead of Tuesday night’s MLB All-Star Game to pitch the following three betting predictions.

Home Run Derby Tabs Adolis Garcia For The Final

The time to have a little fun is now. While the trendy pick is Pete Alonso, maybe the New York Mets slugger does not quite thrive deep in the heart of Texas.

Instead, there is the hometown player to consider. Adolis Garcia has struggled this season, hitting a mere .211 with 17 home runs.

That may keep him a little under the radar with the home run power in this year’s event.

He knows the nuances of the ballpark better than anyone in the field. Some believe this could be a chance for Garcia to jumpstart the second half of his season.

The Texas Rangers outfielder will not feel much pressure here. He is not expected to advance too far in the tournament, with Marcel Osuna, Alonzo and Bobby Witt Jr. all higher up the board.

The format helps a player like Garcia and, obviously, the familiarity. Some do wonder about Witt Jr., too. However, the focus on Garcia is valid here. This might be the best thing for the slugger, whose season has been a grind.

Picking Garcia to win at +550 may be too risky. Could his swing break down a bit, or does the momentum and adrenaline carry him further?

The Panel believes that Garcia can get to the Home Run Derby Final on Monday night at +250.

Pitchers Rule The Roost In The First Inning

The American League and National League expect to lead out with their best-starting pitchers for Tuesday night.

If anyone thinks Pittsburgh Pirates’ Paul Skenes (National League) will be nervous, one has another think coming. Expect the American League to make a decision later on Monday as to who starts.

Typically, this is one of those cases where the adrenaline works positively for both starting pitchers in the first inning. Runs are often hard to come by lately; last year’s contest was won by the National League 3-2.

Three of the previous four classics saw no runs cross the plate in the first innings. In 2022, the National League scored two runs, then none the rest of the way.

Some of these batters have not seen these pitchers in a while and that helps as well.

The batters may go up there hacking a little more, too, given the conditions. Anything that is a plus for pitching helps keep the run total down early, and zero in innings number one is what we are aiming for.

The Panel Pick 2: No Runs In The First Innings – Caesars -140

American League vs National League (O/U 7.5, ML -120, American)

Baseball can have a cruel sense of humor sometimes. The boys of summer will be playing in some hot conditions.

Both the American and National leagues are stacked with talent, from pitchers to hitters. Look at how close the games are typically between the two teams.

So many of these games have hit the Under lately (11 of the past 15), and that is one option, even with the number backing down to 7.5 on some sportsbooks. Another may be to look at the National League.

They snapped the American League’s nine-game streak last year. It does feel like the leagues go on runs when it comes to winning this contest.

There was a time when the National League won most of these games and our pick here is to tip towards a second consecutive NL victory on Tuesday.
