Sports Seriously
A rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game, the Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers was expected to be one of the best games of the season when the schedule was released. Now though, most people could care less about this Monday night matchup.
The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL, boasting a 6-9 record with two weeks to play. They’ve already been eliminated from playoff contention and have won only one game against their divisional foes.
The 49ers have nothing to play for other than pride at this point. They’re facing a Lions team that has the best record in the NFC but hasn’t even clinched their division yet. Detroit will be playing with a lot on the line, meaning we can expect their very best, even in a game they should have no trouble winning.
Here are our experts’ predictions for this Week 17 primetime showdown.
The Lions are favorites to defeat the 49ers, according to the BetMGM NFL odds. Not interested in this game? Check out expert picks and best bets for every NFL game this week.

I think Detroit, even with injuries, covers this spread. The 49ers are eliminated from playoff contention and are dealing with their rash of injuries.
The 49ers were officially eliminated from the playoffs last week. The Lions can smell the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Look for the Lions to have control of this one early.
This would have looked like a great matchup on paper at the beginning of the year, but I have serious doubts about whether the 49ers can cover at home.
Even against a solid defense like San Francisco, Detroit should find some holes that lead to scores. The Lions keep control of the NFC.
