Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season comes to a close with a Monday Night football game full of intriguing storylines and stars.
Aaron Rodgers is scheduled to make his return from injury as the New York Jets face the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, California. Rodgers had his Jets’ debut cut short a year ago on the fourth offensive play of the season when he suffered a torn Achilles tendon.
The 49ers are coming off a Super Bowl game loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, and the return of quarterback Brock Purdy, running back Christian McCaffrey, wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, tight end George Kittle, offensive tackle Trent Williams, defensive lineman Nick Bosa and linebacker Fred Warner has San Francisco positioned as a favorite to emerge from the NFC for the third time in six years.
The Jets finished with a 7-10 record in 2024 with Rodgers out, but his return coupled with the presence of potential stars at running back (Breece Hall) and wide receiver (Garrett Wilson) gives New York reason to believe it should rebound to be a playoff team for the first time since 2010.
Here’s what you need to know to watch the New York Jets vs. the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season:
