At the start of the season, many people believed the AFC East would be a two-horse race between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets. So, with that in mind, a Week 17 matchup between the two squads had the potential to be one of the biggest battles of the season.

Instead, the Jets floundered. They boast an abysmal 4-11 record, and no matter how many of Aaron Rodgers‘ friends they add, they can’t seem to get going. The Bills, meanwhile, have not lost a step even without Stefon Diggs. Quarterback Josh Allen has taken another step in his game and might be the MVP frontrunner with just two weeks to play.

With that in mind, it’d be easy to write this game off as a blowout, but divisional games have a knack for bringing the unexpected. If there was ever a time for a shocking loss, it would be facing an opponent who knows you very well.

Here are our experts’ predictions for this Week 17 AFC East matchup.

Lorenzo Reyes: Bills 25, Jets 17

These division games are tricky to pick, even with the Jets eliminated from the playoffs. The Patriots showed how defenses can slow Josh Allen, by putting a spy on him and containing him in the pocket. New York likely won’t win, but the Jets should at least deploy a similar tactic.

Tyler Dragon: Bills 28, Jets 20

The Jets are already making vacation plans. The Bills are still fighting for the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC. Buffalo played down to its competition in Week 16.

Richard Morin: Bills 28, Jets 12

The Bills would’ve liked a more decisive victory against the rebuilding Patriots, but they all count the same. Still, it might force them to take the Jets more seriously.

Jordan Mendoza: Bills 26, Jets 13

Last week was weird for Buffalo, but expect the offense to look more explosive this time around. The Jets aren’t able to hang around.
