Two more teams join the New York Giants, New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders, and Jacksonville Jaguars in being eliminated from playoff contention. After losses in Week 14, the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets have both officially been eliminated from playoff contention.
It was really a matter of time for both the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets, though both teams lost in Week 14 by the skin of their teeth.
The Panthers‘ 22-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles put them at 3-10 on the season. This will be their seventh straight season without a playoff berth, the longest drought in franchise history.
The Jets actually went into overtime against the Miami Dolphins, but ended up losing 32-26 to make their record 3-10 on the season. This will be their 14th straight season without making the playoffs, the worst in Jets’ history and the longest active postseason drought in the NFL. It’s tied for the 12th-longest drought in NFL history.
