JEE Advanced Topper Chirag Falor Ditched IIT to Join This College, Here’s Why

Chirag Falor topped the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced, JEE advanced 2020. He scored 352 marks out of 396. Based on his rank, India topper Chirag was offered Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) zone. However, 18-year-old Chirag, unlike many other candidates competing for seats in IITs, he planned to skip the race.
He got himself enrolled in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He was accepted by MIT even before attempting JEE exams. Falor used to study for 11 hours a day, attending his regular classes online for MIT, and then spent a few hours preparing for the JEE papers.
“My son’s body clock is working differently but he didn’t let anything affect his JEE preparation,” said Pawan, the father. “I have secured admission in MIT and I am proceeding with it. Classes have already commenced and I am attending them online. I had prepared for these exams over four years, so I didn’t want to skip taking the exam,” Falor said, as quoted by PTI. He won gold medal at the 13th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) in 2019 and secured top position in the American Mathematics competition in 2019.
Similarly JEE Advanced 2023 AIR 99 Rank holder Mohammad Sahil Akhtar ditched IIT seat and took admission to MIT. 17-year-old Sahil Akhtar is now a students of USA’s top Engineering University- Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He dropped out of the JEE Admission process and looked at pursuing a double major in computer sciences and physics. “Research appeals to me more than a tech job,” said Sahil. Along with the MIT, he was also accepted to the M.Phys Program at Oxford University.
