NFL Week 8 Overreactions

Sports Seriously
A very spooky matchup is on tap for Halloween this year as the New York Jets, a franchise that terrifies its fans regularly, faces a banged-up Houston Texans squad.
The Jets, fresh off a devastating last-second loss to the New England Patriots, came into the season hopeful that they might dethrone the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East. Through eight games, it’s clear that is not going to happen. Despite a healthy Aaron Rodgers, as well as the addition of Davante Adams, the Jets have stumbled to a 2-6 record, last place in their division. They’ve lost five straight games and their season is all but over before we’ve reached the midway point.
While their matchup against a 6-2 Texans team may seem like another sure-fire defeat, the Texans are a bit banged up heading into this matchup. Week 8 saw the team lose star receiver Stefon Diggs to a season-ending ACL tear. The Texans’ passing attack will lean on Tank Dell now, who entered the season as the team’s No. 3 receiver.

FEELING LUCKY? Here are the best parlay bets and odds for NFL games this week
Jets vs. Texans | Falcons vs. Cowboys | Ravens vs. Broncos | Bills vs. Dolphins | Panthers vs. Saints | Bengals vs. Raiders | Browns vs. Chargers | Giants vs. Commanders | Titans vs. Patriots | Cardinals vs. Bears | Eagles vs. Jaguars | Packers vs. Lions | Seahawks vs. Rams | Vikings vs. Colts | Chiefs vs. Buccaneers
This Jets team, and specifically the offense, is broken. Even with the injuries to Houston’s receivers, I think the Texans are more balanced, better coached and more disciplined. Backing the Jets this season has been an exercise in frustration.
The Jets have lost five straight and are running out of time to turn their season around. Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich called the Jets Week 8 loss to New England “a moment of darkness”. Unfortunately for the Jets, their darkness will continue versus a 6-2 Texans team. Stefon Diggs’ season-ending injury hurts Houston, but the Texans have enough to get by the freefalling Jets.
Things aren’t getting any easier for the Jets. They had a chance at a bounce-back win against a rebuilding Patriots squad and couldn’t finish the job. The fall continues, even if Houston is without Stefon Diggs.
The loss of Stefon Diggs is a big blow for Houston, but the Jets are a complete mess. Their season officially ends with a primetime loss.
