Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
This week on HorseCenter, Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman look to sort out the question of the best 3-year-old in the U.S. as they handicap the Grade 1, $1 million Haskell Stakes from Monmouth Park, and the Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) from Saratoga.
The Haskell drew a field of eight that includes Dornoch and Mindframe, the top two finishers from the Belmont Stakes. Todd Pletcher has three horses entered, but it seems that Fierceness will opt to run in the Jim Dandy (G2) at Saratoga on July 27.
The CCA Oaks features Thorpedo Anna, who is clearly the leader of the 3-year-old filly division based on her last three impressive victories that include the Grade 1 Acorn and Kentucky Oaks. The field of five does include two other Grade 1 winners.
There are also wonderful undercard races at both Monmouth and Saratoga, so enjoy a great Saturday of racing. As always, thanks for watching the show.
