Robert Griffin III on ESPN departure, NFL quarterbacks and more
Robert Griffin III is starting a new chapter in his media career. We talk with the former NFL quarterback about expectations for the upcoming season, and his partnership with Snickers.
After a disappointing finish to the 2023 season, the Philadelphia Eagles will look to bounce back in 2024, starting with a showdown against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil. This will be the NFL’s first-ever game in Brazil.
Both teams involved have a lot on the line in this one. The Eagles want to prove that they can still contend with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East. Rumors of contention between quarterback Jalen Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni have been rampant this offseason. Are the Eagles spiraling into despair, or can they bounce back after their embarrassing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs a year ago?
Meanwhile, the Packers want to show that last year’s late-season run wasn’t a fluke. Jordan Love needs to show that he can carry that momentum into this season, which shouldn’t be too difficult given the Eagles’ woes against the pass last year. Perhaps one of the Packers’ receivers – Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, or Dontayvion Wicks – can establish themselves as the team’s true WR1.

FEELING LUCKY? Here are the best parlay bets and odds for NFL games this week
Ravens vs. Chiefs | Packers vs. Eagles | Jaguars vs. Dolphins | Steelers vs. Falcons | Vikings vs. Giants | Panthers vs. Saints | Patriots vs. Bengals | Titans vs. Bears | Cardinals vs. Bills | Texans vs. Colts | Raiders vs. Chargers | Broncos vs. Seahawks | Commanders vs. Buccaneers | Cowboys vs. Browns | Rams vs. Lions | Jets vs. 49ers
I’m quite high on Green Bay this year, and think the team takes a jump with Jordan Love potentially becoming a star. I can see Philadelphia struggling a bit on offense after losing Jason Kelce, who was integral in setting protections and blocking up front.
The Eagles are looking to rebound after losing their wings late last season. The free-agent pickup of Saquon Barkley was one of the best moves in the NFL over the offseason. Barkley is going to pay dividends early as the Eagles fly high in Brazil. Philadelphia’s defense also has a lot to prove following a disappointing 2023 campaign.
It would be irresponsible to rule out the Packers’ offense after their display last season, but Jalen Hurts and the Eagles have plenty of weaponry on offense, too. I think the Eagles’ playmakers – A.J. Brown and Saquan Barkley – are the difference in this NFC showdown in Brazil.
There’s a reason the spread in this one is so thin. Oddsmakers are bullish on the Packers’ chances this season, and why shouldn’t they be? I like the Eagles’ offseason additions as much as anybody, but the Packers will own the spotlight in Brazil. Hey, their team colors are even relatively close to the country’s flag!
