Week 2 was absolute trash for anyone playing fantasy football this week. Unless you started Alvin Kamara, Chris Godwin, or DK Metcalf, you probably finished the weekend with less than 120 points. That’s because numerous stars failed to reach expectations. However, that also means numerous lesser-known players had big days. That means there is a big opportunity to add difference-makers off waivers.

Here are five players to consider adding if you want to improve your fantasy team next week.

Players to add, Week 2:

WR Alec Pierce, IND (Rostered in 28% of leagues)

Pierce had a big Week 1 performance, but despite the stellar stat line, his volume was underwhelming. Pierce only had three targets in Indy’s Week 1 loss to Houston. Well, in Week 2, Pierce had the best stat line of any Indianapolis receiver, but this time, his volume was much better.

Pierce led all Colts’ receivers in receptions (5) and yards (56). He was also tied for the team lead in targets (7). While the absence of Josh Downs has certainly helped Pierce get more looks, Pierce’s usage through two weeks cannot go unnoticed. Even with Downs returning soon, Pierce has earned the right to be rostered in most leagues. He has outperformed teammate Michael Pittman Jr. in every aspect and appears to be one of Anthony Richardson’s favorite targets early on.

WR Quentin Johnston, LAC (Rostered in 6% of leagues)

The Chargers are a run-first team, but for the second week in a row, Johnston, the former first-round pick, has seen a decent target share when the Chargers throw the ball. In Week 2 against Carolina, Johnston led the Chargers in targets (6), receptions (5), yards (51), and added two scores through the air.

While that type of TD production cannot be counted on week after week, Johnston could end up being a solid plug-and-play type that will net you 8-10 points every week when your top players start going on bye.

RB D’Onta Foreman, CLE (Rostered in

Foreman was not effective as a runner in this game against Jacksonville, but that didn’t stop the Browns from feeding him twice as many carries as teammate Jerome Ford. Foreman has proven to be an effective goal line back in the past with Chicago and Carolina. Even if Foreman’s workload does not keep up with his usage in Week 2, he could see a good role whenever Cleveland gets in the redzone.

TE Hunter Henry, NE (Rostered in 24% of leagues)

Tight ends have been absolutely atrocious this season. Finding one with consistent volume seems an impossible task at this point. Even ol’ reliables like Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews are throwing up duds. However, New England’s Hunter Henry just put up over 100 yards against Seattle.

While his Week 1 performance wasn’t nearly as grand, tallying just two receptions for 18 yards, I’ve already stated how horrible tight ends have been this year. Opting for a flyer on someone who just put up over 18 PPR points is well worth it as a backup to your No. 1 guy.

RB Antonio Gibson, NE (Rostered in 16% of leagues)

After Rhamondre Stevenson dominated the New England backfield in Week 1, many people had given up on Antonio Gibson. However, Week 2 was a different story for the Patriots. Despite Week 2 featuring a very close game between New England and Seattle, Gibson saw more than 10 carries and was on the field for a sizable amount of snaps.

Gibson was also very efficient, tallying 96 yards on the ground and averaging nearly five more yards per carry than Stevenson. While Stevenson is still clearly the lead back in Foxborough, Gibson has emerged as one of the must-have handcuffs in the league. If anything should happen to Stevenson, Gibson would be in for massive production.
