The NFL season always feels like it takes forever to arrive and then whooshes on by in a flash. We’re already at the halfway point of the season with Week 9 come and gone. Wide receiver Darnell Mooney had another good week for the Falcons, Bills quarterback Josh Allen had a ridiculous second half against the Dolphins, and Eagles running back Saquon Barkley’s highlight reel included an impressive backward hurdle.
Let’s take a look at the top scorers from each position for Week 9.
This week‘s top quarterback in fantasy football was Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts with 29.9 total points. The Eagles have won four straight games now and Hurts has played his third straight with three touchdowns. He’s played a huge role in their recent success and in their win over the Jaguars, he completed 18 of 24 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns plus 13 carries for 67 yards and one rushing touchdown.
Fellow Eagle running back Saquon Barkley joins his quarterback as a top scorer in fantasy this week with 32.9 points. Barkley has been on fire lately, and had touchdowns both on the ground and in the air, with his highlights including a no-look backwards hurdle. He was given some medical attention due to back tightness during the game, but is expected to play against the Cowboys next week.
This week‘s top wide receiver was a bit of a surprise as Seattle Seahawks’ Jaxon Smith-Njigba put up a total of 37 fantasy points in Week 9. Despite an overtime loss to the Rams, Smith-Njigba put up career high stats, recording seven catches on 13 targets for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
Cincinnati Bengals’ Mike Gesicki led the tight ends in Week 9 with 27 fantasy points. He was the Bengals’ surprising leader in receiving yards this week, catching five of six targets for 100 yards and two touchdowns in their win over the Ravens.
Chicago Bears kicker Cairo Santos led his position in fantasy with 13 points in Week 9. The Bears lost to the Cardinals, but Santos was their lone scorer, making all three of his field goal attempts.
The Los Angeles Rams defense led in scoring in Week 9 with 20 total fantasy points. In their 30-20 win over the Vikings, the Rams defense notched three sacks and a safety.
