NFL Week 8 Overreactions
Mackenzie Salmon breaks down the wildest games from Week 8.
Sports Seriously
After a full slate of games in Week 8, the ninth week of the 2024 NFL season is here. Two teams with important fantasy football players – the San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers – are off this week.
As usual, many important names are on the injury report this week, including quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends.
Here’s the latest on fantasy football player injuries you need to know:
Love spent Wednesday’s practice in the rehab area. Coach Matt LaFleur says he is improving, but his status is still up in the air. With an early game on Sunday, Friday will be pivotal for his availability.
Goff did not practice Wednesday but told reporters he should be fine. The missed practice was extended rest for the Lions’ quarterback, and the injury is considered minor.
Tracy Jr. is in the NFL’s concussion protocol following “Monday Night Football” in Week 8. That kept him out of practice and he could take time to return to the field.
Downs did not practice Wednesday due to his toe injury. He played through it last week and should do so again in Week 9 with Joe Flacco under center for the Colts.
Pittman Jr. missed practice on Wednesday with his back injury but has now played through the injury multiple times. Do not be concerned.
Pierce did not practice Wednesday and will not play Thursday against the Jets. The team signed J.J. Taylor from the practice squad to provide depth at the position.
Metcalf did not practice Wednesday, but coach Mike Macdonald is optimistic that the Seahawks’ wideout will return to the field Sunday against Los Angeles.
Thomas Jr. was limited in practice Wednesday and wore a non-contact vest. That leaves his status in the air, but he could improve over the course of the week.
Etienne Jr. was limited in practice Wednesday but did not wear a non-contact vest. That bodes well for his return to the field in Week 9.
Lazard did not practice this week and will miss “Thursday Night Football” against the Texans.
Higgins did not practice Wednesday and instead spent time on the rehab field. He is considered day-to-day, and his status for Week 9 is uncertain.
Hockenson practiced all of last week but did not play on “Thursday Night Football.” The Vikings expect him back this week and added him to the 53-man roster before Week 8.
