Week 3 was an early reminder to NFL fans and bettors that the league is unpredictable from week to week, especially at this early stage in the 2024 season.

Of the 13 NFL games played Sunday, eight were won outright by underdogs. Four favorites of six-plus points — the Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers — were among the losing sides, and their performances against less-heralded competition is going to send some gamblers back to the drawing board as they determine Week 4 strategies.

Week 4 will feature plenty of good matchups that will draw the attention of fans and bettors alike. The undefeated Minnesota Vikings are playing their first division game against the Green Bay Packers, who may get Jordan Love back after he missed two games nursing an MCL sprain. The Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens will face off in a marquee “Sunday Night Football” matchup that will function as both a potential playoff preview and an important spot for the Ravens, who enter the contest with a 1-2 record.

WEEK 3 WINNERS & LOSERS: Texans, 49ers dealt sizable setbacks

The Philadelphia Eagles vs. Buccaneers matchup will be a playoff rematch from last season with the winner earning a 3-1 record and an early edge in the race for the conference’s top seed. The 49ers will also need to stave off a disastrous 1-3 start by taking care of business against the New England Patriots.

What surprises will be in store for NFL teams this week? Perhaps one of the remaining unbeatens will fall; or maybe another big underdog will pull off an unexpected win.
