Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery suffered an injury in the first quarter against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7.

The star running back exited the game and entered the blue medical tent on the Lions sideline with an apparent knee injury.

Montgomery is in the midst of an outstanding 2024 season, and his absence could result in a significant loss for the Lions’ offense. He has scored a touchdown in six consecutive games dating back to last postseason.

Here’s the latest on the Lion’s running back’s status:

David Montgomery returned to the game early in the second quarter, with 11:22 on the clock. After exiting the tent, he never went to the locker room.

David Montgomery went down with injury with 4:33 remaining in the first quarter, with the Lions trailing 10-0.

Montgomery received a handoff on third-and-1 at the Lions 39-yard line and was tackled at the line of scrimmage for no gain.

According to the Fox broadcast, the Lions have called it a knee injury.

The Lions have one of the best running back duos in the NFL. Montgomery has split time with Jahmyr Gibbs. The second-year back out of Alabama will be asked to step up if Montgomery misses extended time.
