NFL Week 12 picks: Why you should consider Broncos and Lions on Sunday
Lorenzo Reyes is back with his three best bets for Sunday’s games.
The Chicago Bears came within a missed field goal of beating longtime rival Green Bay in Week 11. With a new offensive coordinator in place, the offense had one of its best performances of the season with 391 total yards – including 179 on the ground, led by running back D’Andre Swift.
Swift had a team-high 14 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown for one of his better games this season. But he’s on the injury report this week with a groin injury and is questionable for the Bears‘ game against Minnesota in Week 12.
Here’s the latest on his status
Swift missed practice on Wednesday but returned to the field on Thursday to practice in a limited fashion. This is promising for his potential to play on Sunday, pending an update for Friday’s practice.
If he is a full-go on Friday, he’ll likely be a starter against Minnesota. If he’s unable to play on Sunday or limited, Roschon Johnson will likely see a larger role. The second-year back has played in nine of 10 games this season and is tied with Swift for the most rushing touchdowns on the team with five.
Swift hasn’t missed a game due to injury since the 2022 NFL season when he missed three games for the Detroit Lions due to an ankle sprain.
Swift’s been the top running back in Chicago this season with at least 10 carries in every game this season. He’s also fifth on the team in receptions and receiving yards.
This week is the last of Chicago’s three-game home stand before a three-game road trip, starting on Thanksgiving Day against the NFC-leading Detroit Lions.
Swift was reportedly injured during the Bears’ game against the Packers Week 11 loss to Green Bay but played through it. Him missing practice on Wednesday was a precautionary measure, according to coach Matt Eberflus.
In 10 games this season, Swift has 155 carries for 635 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He also has 28 receptions for 243 yards as well.
With Swift potentially out of the lineup, here’s how the full depth chart looks at the position:
The Bears also have running back Darrynton Evans signed to the practice squad.
