Cleveland Browns at Washington Commanders: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 5 game

October 2, 2024

Jayden Daniels has the Washington Commanders (3-1) flying high, and they’ll try to keep the momentum high hosting the Cleveland Browns (1-3).

The freefall continues in Cleveland after the Browns were unable to score at least 20 points for the fourth consecutive week, losing to a Las Vegas Raiders team that didn’t have Davante Adams. Deshaun Watson is facing more and more pressure, putting the Browns in must-win territory.

No rookie is having a better start to the NFL than Daniels, who has shown how great he could be by leading the Commanders to an early lead in the NFC East. Can Washington keep up the surprising season with another victory?

Lorenzo Reyes: Commanders 23, Browns 21

Reason dictates that Washington’s bubble should burst at some point. Just like reason dictates that the Browns, armed with a solid defense, should course correct. Cleveland’s offense, however, has been ineffective and Deshaun Watson is no longer a reliable option at quarterback. Still, veteran defensive coordinator Gregg Williams should have a decent plan to pressure Jayden Daniels. I think this game is decided by Washington’s offensive line, and whether it can hold up. Either way, I like the Browns to cover.

Tyler Dragon: Commanders 26, Browns 20

Jayden Daniels has completed 82.1% of his passes through four games, the highest completion percentage in NFL history for a QB through their first four games. Daniels will face a big test against a stingy Browns defense, but I expect the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year front-runner to have a good performance.

Jordan Mendoza: Commanders 24, Browns 17

Jayden Daniels has been sensational and the Commanders deserve the success. He might not be as explosive facing a decent Browns defense, but he has another good game to strengthen his rookie of the year candidacy.
