NFL Week 2 picks, predictions and best bets
USA TODAY Sports’ Lorenzo Reyes is back with his NFL best bets for week 2 games of the NFL season.
The Kansas City Chiefs started their campaign for a three-peat with an emphatic win over the Baltimore Ravens. Patrick Mahomes, along with some help from Rashee Rice and rookie Xavier Worthy were able to emerge victorious in that AFC Championship rematch. Now, they continue their trek through the AFC North with a matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Joe Burrow and the Bengals have historically been a very poor team in Week 1. That said, nobody expected them to lose to the lowly New England Patriots. The Bengals’ offense was never able to get going. Even though they were without receiver Tee Higgins, the offense was worse than anticipated en route to just 10 points. Their schedule isn’t getting any easier though. The Chiefs boast one of the best defenses in the NFL, and they have no intent on dropping their first game of the year.

Dolphins vs. Bills | Ravens vs. Raiders | Panthers vs. Chargers | Cowboys vs. Saints | Lions vs. Buccaneers | Packers vs. Colts | Jaguars vs. Browns | Vikings vs. 49ers | Patriots vs. Seahawks | Titans vs. Jets | Commanders vs. Giants | Cardinals vs. Rams | Chiefs vs. Bengals | Broncos vs. Steelers | Texans vs. Bears | Eagles vs. Falcons
No offense was more disappointing in Week 1 than Cincinnati’s. The Bengals are notoriously slow starters and the Chiefs have improved along the secondary. So if Tee Higgins continues to miss time, I like Kansas City in this spot quite a bit.
The Chiefs offense looks more explosive than last season and there’s still plenty of room for improvement. Patrick Mahomes is tired of hearing about the Bengals’ success against him. Slow starts have become a theme in Cincinnati. The Bengals will end Week 2 in a 0-2 hole.
Cincinnati successfully regroups after a shocking Week 1 loss to New England. The Chiefs are not immune to early season losses and might take this game too lightly. Take the Bengals, especially if they stay at +6.
The Bengals are all out of sorts and the panic button has been pressed. It doesn’t help they get the defending champions coming off a big win. The Chiefs cruise to a win and officially put an end to the ‘Burrowhead’ moniker.
