Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 7 game

October 16, 2024

play

At 2-4, the Cincinnati Bengals have been one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL, but they haven’t been nearly as disappointing as Deshaun Watson has been for the Cleveland Browns. Despite boasting a remarkable defense and a group of solid players on offense (even after sending Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills), the Browns have a 1-5 record and virtually no hope of crawling out of the AFC North’s basement.

While a win over Cincinnati this weekend would move Cleveland to third in the division, that’s a very hollow victory for a team that reached the playoffs with Joe Flacco at quarterback a season ago. For Cleveland, this is a battle for pride, something to help keep their heads held high. Sadly, the best-case scenario might be a humiliating defeat that forces Kevin Stefanski to replace Watson with Jameis Winston at quarterback.

Here are our experts’ predictions for this Week 7 showdown.

Lorenzo Reyes: Bengals 23, Browns 21

The Browns are a mess, but their defense still boasts some talent. The problem is more the Bengals, who have been inconsistent at times this season on both sides of the ball. Lou Anarumo’s defense is the bigger concern, even though Cincy just posted a nice game against the Giants. New York, though, was able to extend drives with fourth-down conversions. With this being a divisional game, I think it stays relatively close.

Tyler Dragon: Bengals 24, Browns 21

The Bengals got a much-needed win against a reeling Giants club last week. Now the Bengals play a reeling Browns team in the battle of Ohio. This feels like a must-win game for both Ohio teams. The loser of this battle can kiss their playoff chances goodbye.

Richard Morin: Bengals 21, Browns 18

Cleveland is better than its 1-5 record suggests. I think this game will be more of a struggle for Cincinnati than some might figure. I’ll cling to the under.

Jordan Mendoza: Bengals 23, Browns 17

Cincinnati has a chance to build momentum against a team that has nothing going right. The freefall for the Browns continues.
