Bills secure AFC East, Ravens continue with self-inflicted wounds
Mackenzie Salmon breaks down the top storylines from Week 13 in the NFL.
Sports Seriously
The San Francisco 49ers are a gigantic mess. Nothing looks right on offense. Injuries have decimated both sides of the ball. While they are only two games out of first place in the NFC West, they don’t look like a playoff team. They look like a group that should compete for a top-ten draft pick.
The Chicago Bears know a thing or two about having top-ten draft picks. They had two in the most recent draft. However, rookies Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze have not done much to elevate the Bears out of the NFC North’s basement. While both players have shown flashes, neither has been consistent enough to help the Bears compete for a playoff spot.
Both of these teams have disappointed immeasurably in 2024. So which one will be the bigger disappointment? Perhaps their game this weekend will provide an answer to that question.
Here are our experts’ predictions for this Week 14 showdown.
The 49ers are favorites to defeat the Bears, according to the BetMGM NFL odds. Not interested in this game? Check out expert picks and best bets for every NFL game this week.

The 49ers have simply had too many injuries, and the defense has struggled to contain explosive plays. The Bears have been on the cusp of breaking through in recent weeks, and I expect them to get a boost from interim coach Thomas Brown.
The 49ers have been decimated by injuries on both sides of the football. Their chances of making a fourth-straight NFC championship game are looking bleak. However, the Niners have an opportunity to snap a three-game losing streak against a Bears team that just fired head coach Matt Eberflus.
The Bears will find a little juice from the firing of Matt Eberflus as the injuries continue to mount for the 49ers.
Chicago has been so close to victory so many times, and the 49ers continue to get injury after injury. With Matt Eberflus gone, the Bears finally get a win by taking advantage against a team that doesn’t look to be headed toward the playoffs.
