The T20 Cricket World Cup 2024 tournament, co-hosted by the US and West Indies, has already witnessed some major upsets and several low-scoring thrillers.
One of the most talked about teams following their stunning win via a “Super Over” against Pakistan has been the USA team, led by Monank Patel. The US are one of the few countries who are unbeaten in the tournament, after their back-to-back wins against Canada and Pakistan.
However, they will face a major challenge in their upcoming match against cricketing powerhouse, India, who currently top the Group A standings.
Here, we look at three key players from USA who could help the hosts cause another upset against India in their upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 clash between the two teams.

The Indian origin left-arm pacer was the star bowler who successfully defended the score for USA in the Super Over against Pakistan, which led to a memorable win for the ages at the T20 World Cup.
He returned figures of 2/18 in his four overs during the regulation 20 overs, bowling both in the powerplay and at the death overs.
The 32-year old cricketer is the leading wicket taker for USA in T20Is and his experience, along with the left-arm angle will be key against an Indian team that has had its own troubles against this bowling type.
In addition, the conditions at New York will aid pace bowlers, which is something that he will look to take advantage of when he marks his run-up against India’s top order batters, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

The right-handed batter from New York was instrumental for USA in both their wins at the ongoing T20 Cricket World Cup.
He was on the field batting during both of the chases which USA ended up winning. In the opening game against Canada, he won Player of the Match for his unbeaten 94 not out (from 40 balls), as he won the match for his team with a six.
He also scored an unbeaten 36 not out (from 26 balls) versus Pakistan, which included a six in the 20th over against Haris Rauf, which brought his team right back into the game.
Not only will he be playing at his home in New York, but he will also be a key player in the middle order, who will be tasked with stabilizing the innings in the case of a top-order collapse when the face world-class quick bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah.
The third USA player could have also been left-arm spinner Nosthush Kenjige, after his three-wicket haul against Pakistan. However, we think the experience of former New Zealand allrounder Anderson will play a huge part when the relatively inexperienced USA team take on a well-drilled giant like India.
While the former Kiwi allrounder did not have a huge role to play in the opening two matches, we expect his responsibilities to increase in this match, with both his left-arm pace and explosive batting in the middle order.
He scored 190 runs at an average of 47.5 with a strike rate of 145, in his five innings during last year’s Major League Cricket competition, which featured several world-class international cricketers.
USA will take on India in the Group A clash at the T20 World Cup 2024 in Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, on Wednesday, June 12.
The match is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. ET, with the toss set to take place at 10 a.m. ET.
