NFL Overreactions Week 14
Mackenzie Salmon breaks down the biggest NFL storylines from Week 14.
Sports Seriously
Heading into Week 15, the NFC South is controlled by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-6), and they’ll try to maintain it when they visit the Los Angeles Chargers (8-5).
It took some time but Tampa Bay did what it was supposed to do and handled the Las Vegas Raiders to win its third-straight game. Suddenly, the season has gone from looking rough to looking like a team destined to be in the playoffs. All sides of the ball are playing great and if the momentum could be kept up, the Buccaneers can be a dark horse contender.
The Chargers became the latest victim to fall to the magic powering the Kansas City Chiefs after a field goal off the upright went in favor of the defending champions. The loss meant the AFC West again belongs to Kansas City, but Los Angeles is still well-positioned to make the playoffs. Now it’s all about maintaining a spot.
The Chargers are favorites to defeat the Buccaneers, according to the BetMGM NFL odds. Not interested in this game? Check out expert picks and best bets for every NFL game this week.

Los Angeles came so close to topping the Chiefs and — sitting at 8-5 — the Chargers absolutely cannot drop games in what is an extremely tight wild card race. There’s a similar situation for the Buccaneers, who are currently in first in the NFC South. Still, I like the Charger roster and defense to prevail in this spot.
The Bucs’ three-game winning streak has vaulted them to the top of the NFC South. Tampa Bay faces a tough test against the NFL’s top-scoring defense. Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense will produce enough points to survive at home.
I know my colleagues are on the Chargers to take this one but I like what I’ve seen from the Buccaneers this season. I like Tampa Bay to pick up a win and increase their lead in the NFC South.
The Chargers have played a tough schedule recently and it doesn’t get any easier with a surging team coming to town. However, the Los Angeles defense is able to cause Baker Mayfield some issues and give Justin Herbert a chance to capitalize.
