If you had told an average NFL fan that the Cincinnati Bengals would be fighting for their playoff lives with two weeks to play while the Denver Broncos were sitting comfortably in a playoff spot at that same point, they’d look at you like you were crazy, yet here we are.

Joe Burrow and company have a very small window to secure a playoff berth, but until they are mathematically eliminated, they’ll fight until their last breath. Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos just need one more win to secure their spot among the AFC’s elite. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix has proven all of his doubters wrong, making the Broncos’ decision to draft him 12th overall, which had previously been ridiculed, look like a steal.

Here are our experts’ predictions for this Week 17 showdown.

Lorenzo Reyes: Broncos 21, Bengals 18

Denver has struggled against the better teams on its schedule, and the Bengals are interesting in that their record is probably worse than they are on paper. Still, the Broncos fiercely need to protect their standing in the AFC wild-card race, and the defense should respond to an interesting challenge.

Tyler Dragon: Bengals 27, Broncos 25

This game has serious playoff implications. The Broncos need to win one of their final two games to secure a playoff spot. The Bengals need to keep winning and need additional help. Hard to imagine the Bengals dropping this important game at home.

Richard Morin: Broncos 28, Bengals 23

Don’t go against Bo!

Jordan Mendoza: Bengals 30, Broncos 24

A Cincinnati win would make the playoff picture interesting heading into the final week. The Bengals get past the Denver defense to stay alive.
