Brittany Schlater is best known for being a 2x IPF World Champion. However, she lost her title in 2024, which definitely had an impact on her. Luckily it turned out positive, as her progress has recently been displayed at the 2024 CPU Canadian National Championships. On this occasion, Brittany managed to deadlift 273.5 kilograms (603 pounds), which is an Unofficial +84KG IPF World Record.

Brittany Schlater secured her win at the 2024 CPU Nationals with her opening deadlift, which allowed her to focus on beating the World Record for the remaining two attempts. The second attempt came out to 262.5 kilograms (578.7 pounds), which was still not enough.

In turn, on her final attempt, Brittany Schlater loaded 273.5 kilograms (603 pounds) on the bar to unofficially chip the World Record. She opted to use a conventional stance and a mixed grip for the lift, while only being allowed to put on a lifting belt. The bar moved far easier than anyone expected, allowing everyone to believe that Schlater is capable of much more.

*The official +84KG IPF Raw Deadlift World Record belongs to Natalie Laalaai, who locked out 273-kg (601.9-lb) at the 2024 IPF World Championships.

Brittany Schlater has been competing for eight years, during which she has taken part in 23 sanctioned powerlifting competitions. Moreover, she has won 19 competitions, which shows just how successful she is. Schlater has also held multiple World Records over the years and is now close to officially reclaiming the deadlift.

It is important to note that Brittany Schlater’s recent 273.5-kilogram (603-pound) raw deadlift is an Unofficial record. In order for it to be an official record, it has to be performed in an international competition sanctioned by the IPF or some of their regional associates, such as the EPF or the NAPF. Luckily, Schlater will get her chance to make the record official in 2025.
