The Cincinnati Bengals selected Alabama WR Jermaine Burton with the 80th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Burton spent four seasons in college, two with Georgia and two with Alabama, winning a national title with the Bulldogs in 2021. Here’s everything you need to know about Burton.
Burton is a primary deep threat with a top speed that will have defensive backs on their back foot immediately, proving that with his longest catches in the 2023 season going for no less than 45 yards. He is a consistent route runner as well with fantastic footwork. Similar game to former Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin.
Burton, who is from Calabasas, California, and went to Calabasas high school, is 6 feet tall and weighs 196 pounds.
With Alabama, Burton had 40 receptions for 677 yards and 7 TDs in 2022. And in 2021 racked up 39 receptions for 798 yards and 8 TDs with the Crimson Tide. In 2021 with Georgia, before he transferred, Burton had 26 receptions for 497 yards and 5 TDs. And in 2020 with Georgia, 27 catches for 404 yards and 3 TDs.
Burton’s best game as a collegiate athlete came in Alabama’s week 6 win against Arkansas in 2023 where Burton recorded a career-high nine catches for 197 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also recorded four 40+ yard catches in that game. Perhaps Burton’s most notable moment came in the 2023 SEC Championship Game where he played against his former school Georgia and recorded a 15-yard touchdown in the Crimson Tide victory.
At the scouting combine, Burton ran a 4.45 40-yard dash, posting a 1.53 10-yard split, a 38.5-inch vertical jump and a 11-foot 1-inch broad jump.
