NFL Week 2: Atlanta Falcons vs. Philadelphia Eagles predictions

ESPN‘s Seth Walder: Eagles 27, Falcons 13

Walder writes: “Huff posts a 20% pass rush win rate and gets his first sack as an Eagle. Huff didn’t have a great first game — 14.3% PRWR and one tackle — but it seemed like he struggled with grip on the field in Sao Paulo. That’s tough for a speed rusher.”

Sports Illustrated: Eagles will win

Jennifer Piacenti writes: “Defenses now have to plan for the running threat of Saquon and Jalen Hurts. In addition, Kellen Moore’s pass-happy will be a boon for Eagles receivers.  AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert will be much harder to cover than the Steelers receivers. The Falcons limited Justin Fields to just 156 passing yards and no passing touchdowns, but this Eagles offense is a different story. I believe the Eagles will win this one, but I’d rather root for the over than lay the -6.5.”

Doc Sports: Take the Eagles

Tony Sink writes: “he Eagles are giving up 29.0 points per game, which has them sitting 25th in the NFL. They have surrendered 2 touchdowns via the pass in addition to 251.0 yards/outing, which has them ranked 26th in the league. Philadelphia has yielded a total of 163 rushing yards in addition to 1 touchdown via the rush for the season. The Eagles defense has been on the field for 58 plays, which has them ranked 12th in the league. They have compiled 1 takeaway on the season.”

PickDawgz: Atlanta Falcons

Randy Chambers writes: “It’s fair to say the Philadelphia Eagles are the better team, and their being at home with the rest advantage doesn’t hurt. Also, if Cousins is going to play like that moving forward, the Falcons are cooked like the kids say. With all that said, the end of last season left a sour taste in my mouth with the Eagles, and it’s going to take more than one game to get it out. The Eagles are 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 games. The Eagles are also 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games when favorites of 7 or more points. I’ll take my chances with the Falcons and the free touchdown on Monday night.”
