Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 2 game

September 11, 2024

After an offseason full of hype, the Atlanta Falcons laid an egg in Week 1, tallying only ten points in their season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, they get a tougher opponent in the Philadelphia Eagles, who looked like they put the ghosts of 2023 behind them in their Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers.

The Eagles left Brazil with their heads held high. Offseason acquisition Saquon Barkley went off for three touchdowns in the win. The Falcons had a myriad of offseason acquisitions as well, none bigger than former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins. Coming off an ACL injury, Cousins definitely looked a little rusty. Perhaps he just needed to get the Week 1 jitters out of his system before he returns to form.

Here are our experts’ predictions for this Monday Night Football showdown.

Dolphins vs. Bills | Ravens vs. Raiders | Panthers vs. Chargers | Cowboys vs. Saints | Lions vs. Buccaneers | Packers vs. Colts | Jaguars vs. Browns | Vikings vs. 49ers | Patriots vs. Seahawks | Titans vs. Jets | Commanders vs. Giants | Cardinals vs. Rams | Chiefs vs. Bengals | Broncos vs. Steelers | Texans vs. Bears | Eagles vs. Falcons

Lorenzo Reyes: Eagles 24, Falcons 22

Philadelphia outlasted Green Bay in the opener, but I think the Falcons are much better than they showed. I also think the Steelers were a very tough matchup for a team with a new franchise quarterback, new offensive coordinator and new head coach. I think Atlanta, with all those weapons on offense, keeps it close.

Tyler Dragon: Eagles 28, Falcons 20

Kirk Cousins tossed two interceptions in an uninspiring Falcons debut. Now the Falcons have to travel to Philadelphia to face an Eagles club who is flying high after Saquon Barkley’s three-touchdown performance. Jalen Hurts won’t have three turnovers in the Eagles’ home opener.

Richard Morin: Eagles 31, Falcons 14

The Eagles control this one from start to finish. I like Philadelphia and the points.

Jordan Mendoza: Eagles 24, Falcons 16

Who knew how good a team could be with Saquon Barkley? After his eclectic debut in Brazil, the running back returns to U.S. soil and gives Eagles fans plenty to cheer about. On the other side, get ready for the Kirk Cousins questions to be raised.
