Beyoncé to perform at halftime for NFL Christmas Day game on Netflix
Beyoncé will perform in her hometown of Houston during an NFL Christmas Day game streaming on Netflix.
The NFL is presenting its fans with a special gift this Christmas.
It isn’t just the two-game, Wednesday slate that the league went out of its way to schedule on the holiday. It’s also a halftime performance from Beyoncé.
Beyoncé, a Houston native, is set to perform at halftime of the Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens contest. It will mark the first time that the singer will perform music from her “Cowboy Carter” album live, which naturally makes her halftime performance one of the most anticipated NFL entertainment events in years.
Beyoncé isn’t the only big-name act who will be associated with the NFL’s Christmas slate. The league is also planning to show a special, taped performance of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” before both the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Kansas City Chiefs game and the Texans–Ravens contest.
Queen Bey is also expected to bring along some guest performers who were featured on her “Cowboy Carter” album, according to Netflix.
Here’s what to know about Beyoncé’s halftime show and how you can catch it on Christmas Day.
There isn’t a set start time for Beyoncé’s halftime performance because, naturally, it will depend on the length of the first half of the Texans vs. Ravens game.
The Texans game is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 p.m. ET. If it starts on time as expected, that should allow halftime to begin between 5:45 and 6 p.m. ET.
With that in mind, those who want to guarantee that they will see Beyoncé’s show as it happens should tune into the program at 5:45 p.m. ET, just in case the first half is fast-moving. The show may not start until closer to 6 p.m. ET – or perhaps even after if the half runs long or the game doesn’t start right away – but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
After all, we are talking about Queen Bey, here!
Netflix will be broadcasting the NFL’s Christmas Day games nationally. That will give everyone with a Netflix account the ability to watch those games – and Beyoncé’s halftime show – live.
Those without Netflix accounts that live in the Houston and Baltimore regional markets will still be able to catch the game on local stations. KHOU will broadcast the game in Houston while WJZ will have the game in Baltimore.
Beyoncé will be performing at the Texans’ home arena, NRG Stadium. She was born and raised in Houston, so it will be a homecoming of sorts for her.
It will also mark the first time that Beyoncé has performed at halftime of an NFL event since she appeared as a guest performer during the Super Bowl 50 halftime show in 2016. She was the main act during the “Harbaugh Bowl” in Super Bowl 47, when the Superdome lights famously went out after halftime, delaying the game for 34 minutes.
