NFL Week 15 picks: Consider Lions, Chiefs and Bengals on Sunday
Lorenzo Reyes explains why he likes the Lions, Chiefs and Bengals in Week 15.
The Los Angeles Chargers are in the thick of the AFC playoff hunt entering Week 15. They’re one of three 8-5 teams in the AFC wild card seeds behind Baltimore and ahead of Denver. This week, they play at home against the NFC South-leading Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Chargers played the Kansas City Chiefs close last week on “Sunday Night Football” despite playing without leading receiver Ladd McConkey. The rookie wideout missed his first game of the season with a knee injury and the offense managed just 194 passing yards in his absence.
With that logjam of wild card contenders, the Chargers need a win to stay ahead in the playoff race. Here’s the latest on whether McConkey will be available for them.
McConkey was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He was seen going through drills on Wednesday in a bigger capacity than last week and without a brace on his right leg.
This bodes well for his chances to play on Sunday. The biggest indicator will be Friday’s practice. If McConkey is a full-go then, he should be good to go for the game.
McConkey’s been dealing with multiple injuries, most recently this knee injury suffered against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13. He still finished the game with nine catches for 117 receiving yards.
He also has been dealing with a shoulder injury suffered against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11.
McConkey leads the Chargers in catches (58) and receiving yards (815) and has scored four touchdowns this season.
If McConkey is unable to play Sunday, here’s how the rest of the Chargers’ wide receiver corps looks:
Los Angeles also has Jaylen Johnson, Dez Fitzpatrick and Laviska Shenault Jr. signed to the practice squad.
