Is the NFL destined for a Bills-Eagles Super Bowl?
The NFL could be in store for a Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills Super Bowl matchup if they keep riding their respective hot streaks.
Sports Seriously
One team had to fire its coach and the other can’t get healthy. That will be the theme when the Chicago Bears go on the road to play the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday for Week 14 of the NFL schedule.
The 49ers (5-7) need the win badly to keep their flickering playoff hopes alive and remain in contention in the crowded NFC West race. San Francisco’s long list of injuries got longer this week with the news that running back Christian McCaffrey is out for at least the rest of the regular season after suffering a torn PCL in the team’s loss at Buffalo last week. The 49ers will turn to rookie Isaac Guerendo in the backfield, and the availability tight end George Kittle and offensive tackle Trent Williams is still in doubt.
The Bears (4-8) enter Sunday on a six-game losing streak that led first to the firing of offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and, after the team’s embarrassing late-game clock management in a Thanksgiving day loss at Detroit, the dismissal of head coach Matt Eberflus. This will be interim coach Thomas Brown’s first game at the helm. Rookie Caleb Williams had been playing better since Brown took over as offensive coordinator in place of Waldron last month.
