NFL Week 12 Overreactions
Mackenzie Salmon breaks down NFL week 12 wildest games.
Sports Seriously
The Miami Dolphins were supposed to contend for the AFC East title in 2024. However, the injury bug had other plans. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa went down for several weeks, all but eliminating Miami from contention. Their schedule certainly isn’t helping them either.
The Dolphins still have to trudge through games against San Francisco and Houston before the end of the regular season, but before they can face off against those squads, they’ll need to take on this week’s opponents, the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers are coming off a massive win over the injury-riddled San Francisco 49ers. That is to say that the Packers are likely feeling fresh after not having to reveal much of their playbook in Week 12. Green Bay is still in the running for an NFC North title, and they’ll need to win every game down the stretch to keep pace with the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.
Here are our experts’ predictions for this Week 13 matchup.
The Packers are favorites to defeat the Dolphins, according to the BetMGM NFL odds.
Lions vs. Bears | Cowboys vs. Giants | Packers vs. Dolphins | Chiefs vs. Raiders | Falcons vs. Chargers | Bengals vs. Steelers | Jaguars vs. Texans | Vikings vs. Cardinals | Patriots vs. Colts | Jets vs. Seahawks | Commanders vs. Titans | Panthers vs. Buccaneers | Saints vs. Rams | Ravens vs. Eagles | Bills vs. 49ers | Broncos vs. Browns
Miami has been playing better recently, but the Dolphins tend to struggle in cold-weather games. And the forecast in Green Bay is calling for possible snow. The key for the Packers will be limiting turnovers. I do think it’s close, but, ultimately, I’ll take the Packers and the points.
The Dolphins have only won once in the last 32 years when it’s 23 degrees or colder. Tua Tagovailoa is 0-7 when the temperature is 40 degrees or colder. The temperature is forecasted to be around 19 degrees Thursday night.
I’ve been saying for weeks the Dolphins are for real (as long as Tua Tagovailoa is healthy). They just got done embarrassing the Patriots last week. But it’s going to be a late November evening game at Lambeau with temperatures below freezing. I can’t pick against the Packers in those conditions, especially against a team that relies on its speed to execute a game plan.
Miami isn’t a team anyone wants to face right now, but the Dolphins aren’t known for going into frigid temperatures and playing well. With the elements in their favor, the Packers can halt the Miami offense from breaking free.
